Home Sweet Home

This story is the kind of thing that makes me believe in humanity. It is an amazing example of our capacity for compassion, love, and forgiveness. I first heard about it in a radio interview with Jade and Alex from the Magnetic Zeros.

ABOUT THE VOICE PROJECT

A movement begun in a small, forgotten corner of the globe and an effort to see how far a voice can carry.

Women, widows and rape survivors, who banded together into groups to care for each other and orphans are using songs passed by word of mouth to tell former child soldiers and abductees forced to fight that they are forgiven and should come home. They are trying to help end Africa's longest running war which has ravaged Northern Uganda, Southern Sudan and Eastern Congo.

★★And it's working.★★

Soldiers are coming home.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros became involved in this project using their song 'Home'. The Gulu Widows Choir learned their song and were included in a remixed version. The proceeds of this bought the women a farm giving them independence and a home. Download the song and pass it along.
